Jesse Grant-Skinner
Co-CEO & Director of Operations

Jesse is a coach, leader, and an educator. Over the last 15 years, he has infused his work with joy, empathy, and an unyielding commitment to excellence as he served as a public school administrator, teacher and tutor coach, professional learning leader, and turnaround school educator. He has deep expertise in early childhood education, honed through experiences as teacher and school leader for Pre-K and kindergarten classrooms in Title I schools.

In the classroom, Jesse was part of the first cohort of teachers at KIPP DC to implement the Tools of the Mind curriculum. He supported the implementation of lessons that encouraged children to explore, discover, and learn through hands-on experiences. As an administrator, he led development of curricula, policies, and programs, while building strong relationships with parents, teachers, and the wider school community. As literacy coach, Jesse has supervised and led professional development for AmeriCorps members implementing evidence-based literacy curriculum to elementary students in Philadelphia.

Jesse is a performer, with years of training in vocal music and musical theater, who was inspired to become an educator and then support other educators by the example of his godmother, who taught in public schools for 39 years. Jesse is a Baltimore City native and graduate of the Baltimore School for the Arts, where he has also served on the Board of Directors since 2019. Their motto, “Where the arts change kids’ lives,” applies to his own experience. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Point Park University, trained with DC’s Capital Teaching Residency, and is an alum of the KIPP School Leadership Program.
