John Buffaloe takes on the role as Development Officer with Better People
John Buffaloe received his BA in Liberal Studies after matriculating to Portland State University from Bard College in upstate New York. John is an Oregon-licensed Certified Public Accountant. He was previously employed by PricewaterhouseCoopers for two years as a tax associate before arriving at Better People as a volunteer. The transition from public accounting to working with a nonprofit agency has been a natural outcome of his passion for working with people. John takes pride in helping to resolve issues impacting those who are part of a marginalized group. He likes networking and creating and implementing ideas for fund-raising events and campaigns. Before moving to Portland in 2004, John spent a decade in Oakland, California and the East Bay Area writing music and playing guitar with Sterling Dervish, a rock band. He especially enjoys spending time with his wife. He continues to play music and finds pleasure in playtime with Willie Jack, a pug/Chihuahua that John and his wife rescued from an animal shelter. Better People thanks John for his service as a volunteer grant writer and is pleased to welcome him as Development Officer.
