Better People Announces
Sixth MRT Graduation Ceremony
Multnomah County Commissioner Serena Cruz, the Better People Board of Directors and The Better People Alumni Club announce the Fall 2001 Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) Graduation.
A record 41 Better People clients have successfully completed twelve steps of the MRT process. In 1999 and 2000, a total of 48 people graduate from Better People, which opened in June 1998. At the March 29, 2001 ceremony, another 30 graduated. So this fall's class is indicative of Better People's outstanding growth.

Here is an excerpt from a written testimonial from a previous Better People graduation:
"I am a 24-year-old single mother in recovery, and it is time for me to make a better life for me and my son. There was a point where I lost control over the crime and the drugs, and they gained control over me. When I started (MRT) I was on welfare, living with others, and not happy. Now I have a good paying job, a management position, have my own car and apartment, and am truly happy."
This is Better People's sixth graduation ceremony. KGW-Channel 8 did a story on the last graduation, whch was held March 30, 2001.
